A Thief in the Night
by David Chandler
Harper, $7.99, 500 pp
Release Date: September 27, 2011

This is book two of the Ancient Blades trilogy.

Malden is a thief, one of the best in the free city of Ness . He is also a friend of the Knight Croy, one of seven who can carry the blades to slay Demons. Malden , in saving the life of Croy, now carries another such sword, but has no training. When Croy's wedding is spoiled by a brawl, they find another knight from an enemy land who asks for their help in slaying a demon in the hidden city of Vincularium . Malden joins them when an assassin is on his tail set on killing him. Croy's fiancee, the beautiful witch Cynthera, insists on joining the group as does Slag, a dwarven weapons maker and engineer. Malden will find the traps, Slag will help defuse them.

The adventures come fast and furious, the action is non-stop and not everyone will survive....or will they?

I couldn't put this down, I was caught up in the characters and action. Thank goodness that book three is coming soon. I am looking forward to Honor among Thieves. The first volume is Den of Thieves. I'll be looking for it as well. ~~ Pam Allan
