|You’re here, my little pumpkins, because you have already read ALL the previous insanely gripping novels by Preston & Child. You know all about the fey Aloysius Pendergast FBI special agent extraordinaire who frequently runs outside his organization and solves the seemingly unsolvable; utilizing facts and very arcane skills no one around him would ever connect or use. At the end of the last novel “Fever Dream” Aloysius was going to do a little hunting at a lodge in Scotland accompanied by his brother-in-law Judson Esterhazy. Let’s just say things are not very cordial between the two because as you undoubtedly know in “Fever Dream,” Pendergast was trying to track down who murdered his wife Helen ten years ago while they were on a big game hunt in Africa…and then Pendergast uncovered some pharmaceutical shenanigans involving the avian flu and clues left by John James Audubon in one of his paintings of a Carolina Parakeet (now extinct) and….
(Just so you know. You really have to have read “Fever Dream” to be able to grasp what’s occurring here.)
Let me also warn you---you’re going to want a good long length of time to devour this because there’s a ton of new material uncovered in this tale that directly follows what was discovered in Fever Dream and will undoubtedly be concluded in the next novel. You’re not going to want to be interrupted.
