The Immortal Lost
by H.R. Phillips
Tate Publishing, $14.95, 232 pp
Release Date: March 28, 2011

This appears to be a debut novel.

Dylan Black was an outcast until she found herself an immortal, awakened to save the world and hunted by the evil immortals who wish to enslave or destroy her. Alessar Belmonte was a half breed immortal, created to protect Dylan and prevent the darkness from taking over. Can they survive?

The book is a mixture of Young Adult and fantasy adventure. Unfortunately, they clash. Character development is there but drowning in a sea of description and exposition. The format is open-ended as in a serial for a periodical rather than a well-made series.

The author shows a talent for word-smithing but would benefit with the help of a good editor. ~~ Pam Allan
