Intrigues
by , Mercedes Lackey
Daw, $7.99, 391pp
Release Date: October 4, 2011

Intrigues follows Foundations in the Collegium Chronicles series continuing adventures in Valdemar.  Mags, once a starving slave in an underground gem mine until chosen by Dallen who brought the guard to free them. Now, in Haven, being trained as a Herald he is warm and comfortable but isolated as no one shares his background. ForeSeers had seen mags and the K covered with blood, and Mags’ parents were foreigners. How can Mags defend himself against a crime that hasn't been committed? Can he find and stop the miscreants before the event?

I am an unabashed Lackey fan because of her beautifully developed characters, down to the lesser ones and the wonderful sardonic or sarcastic dialog of the companions and other critters. Her world building is top notch so you feel as if you were there......and they are enjoyable to the last page. What more can you ask? I am glad she is so prolific. ~~ Pam Allan
