This is the fourth novel of Dhulyn and Parno.
Dhulyn and Parno are assigned the task of escorting the Princess of Arderon to her wedding to the new Tarkin of Menoin. A nice relaxing trip [hah]. Before they land, they learn of the previous team that was sent on assignment to Menoin a year before and disappeared. In Menoin, they meet up with scholar friends investigating old Caid ruins who believe that the previous team's disappearance is tied to a series of bizarre ritualistic killings.
The princess is found, and killed like the other ritual killings, and her princess cousin asks them for help. The mercenary duo trace the killer to the Path of the Sun, a maze from which people rarely return. But they are not ordinary people. As they step into mystical insanity, royal intrigue and danger in one of the worlds for any marked with psychic ability.
I love Malan's writing. Combining high fantasy with a metaphysical twist, characters that a beautifully drawn, complete with their own secrets, in a world full of detail and action. What more can you ask for...well maybe a complete set of the author’s work. I suspect you'll want them all as well. Enjoy ~~ Pam Allan
