The Scottish Prisoner
by Diana Gabaldon
Delacorte, $28.00, 507 pp
Release Date: November 29, 201

This is the newest Lord John mystery.

Jamie Fraser is paroled to the lake district to be near the son he cannot claim. He is hauled to London by Lord John's brother. Lord John is not pleased as they are sent to investigate corruption and treason by an officer in the British army. Jamie is being importuned by a friend from the Jacobite uprising to join a new rebellion. Jamie sees that this will only lead to massive bloodshed.

In Ireland , the corrupt officer is killed, and Lord John is accused, though innocent, and Jamie has to break him out of prison. All this leads to a duel. And though Jamie now has options he returns to his son.

Lots of action and the best characterization in any of the Lord John books. This a must for fans of the Outlander series. Enjoy. ~~Pam Allan
