The story takes place in the western U.S. in the year 2061.  But it begins in 2010… Wyatt, a firefighter who goes to extreme lengths to rescue people, leaves his wife, daughter and son to take a camping trip with his closest friends.  While in a cave in Sedona , AZ all hell breaks loose.  Earthquakes cause the cave to collapse, knocking Wyatt and his friends unconscious.  When they awaken, it is 50 years later and they haven’t aged.

The world has changed.  Their families are gone and the world is full of wild animals, zombies, bounty hunters and the “Strangers” who are humans, embedded with a powerful crystal that controls the zombies.  Technology is gone; the people who have survived the Change must scavenge for food and clothing.  

Wyatt is traveling with Remington Truth, a woman he rescued from an evil bounty hunter, and her dog, Dantes.  Remy isn’t real pleased to have this gorgeous man taking care of her. Eventually she accepts and appreciates his help – it seems everyone wants to find her!  Remy possesses a powerful crystal that the Strangers want very badly to possess.   Remy and Wyatt’s mission is to get to Envy (the new city on the site of Las Vegas ) where there is a Survivor’s Day celebration.  They get caught in a revolution and discover the true power of Remy’s crystal. 

I enjoyed this saga of man and woman working together to survive and will be reading the others in this series as fast as I can get them! ~~ Marie Davis
