Innocent Blood, The Order of the Sanguines series
by James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell
William Morrow, $27.99, 437pp
Release Date: December 12, 2013
Did you enjoy “The Blood Gospel” the previous book in this series?

I swear; this is even better.

In ‘Blood Gospel,” a secret order hidden in the depths of the Vatican have been seeking the Blood Gospel, the Gospel written by Christ in his own blood.

OOOOHH. Creepy, weird and wonderful!

Well, a lot of hell breaks loose and all kinds of characters fight over the possession of this book. For within it are the seeds of the Apocalypse.

Dr. Erin Granger, an archaeologist from California , Army sergeant Jordan Stone and the Sanguinist priest, Rhun Korza meet up again to thwart their nemesis from finding the First Angel, The Woman of Learning and the Warrior of Man from combining their power and thwarting the Apocalypse contained in the Blood Gospel.

Batten down your hatches because you are going to be swept away in a tsunami wave of danger, horrors and incredible wonder by this book. You’ll meet up with some inventive religious elements in these pages.

We run into a lot of characters from the previous book, the perplexing miracle child, Tommy Balor, Grigori Rasputin and Alexi Romanov, Countess Elizabeth Bathory, Cardinal Bernard and the beautiful and cursed Arella, the love of the immortal adversary to all these plans---The Damnatus, otherwise known as Judas Iscariot! And of course, we are taken all over the world, from California , Stockholm , Italy to Egypt .

Give yourself plenty of time to get through this because you won’t want to put it down. This book will make you read at the speed of a bullet train and even weep.

It’s a great adventure and the end is an amazing glory.

I’m being vague because I don’t want to do any spoiling here.

But, whoa Nelly….wait until you get to Siwa , Egypt where the climax blazes with unearthly light in a well-hidden and forgotten holy place.

And OMG; there’s another book to come! ~~ Sue Martin
