Castle Ocean perches on the Cape of Winds and therein lives the royal family that has ruled for as long as anyone can remember. But now the King is dead as the Empire from the east has invaded, the Queen must marry one of the Emperor’s brothers to seal the peace treaty. As the Queen delays the wedding, her son goes in search of his twin sister, the mute Tirza. As they return to the castle their ship is attacked by a dragon and Tirza soon finds herself alone with the dragon in an inland sea pool. While Tirza cannot talk to people, she finds she can talk to the dragon as well as understand it.

The action moves along at a good paces and the characters are interesting. The ending, however, is bittersweet. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
