In this alternate history series, magic is both very real and a very secret weapon. From the time of the revolution, magically powerful families have been instrumental in keeping the US free and safe from those who do not share the American dream and would use dark magic, the left-hand way, to impose their way upon the US and the world. Magical families around the world are also aligned, either with their respective government or, occasionally, with the followers of the left-hand way.

Once again our primary focus are the four members of our group - Major Dale Morton and his new wife Schezerade Rezvani along with Colonel Michael Endicott, and Grace Marlow. Our intrepid band is in Tokyo for the wedding of Michael and Grace which requires representatives of all the magically families and some government agencies worldwide to attend and witness the joining of two powerful houses across international lines. Couple the problems of all those not necessarily friendly and powerful people all in the same place, to the fact the truce will end once the happy couple consummate their marriage and we are looking at a recipe for disaster.

Mayhem ensues, an important semi-ally is apparently exorcized to the dismay of not only our group but several governments as well; a fast-paced fight through the rooftops and streets of Tokyo culminating in an escape that leads our group to India and the ultimate showdown between good and evil in a very real Shangri-La.

This was a very definitive end to an interesting trilogy. I cannot really discuss the ending without going into major spoiler territory, it was appropriate but somewhat shocking. This is a highly recommended series. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
