Olivia Taylor Jones’s life has exploded. She’s discovered she is not only adopted, but her real parents are convicted serial killers. Fleeing the media frenzy, she took refuge in the oddly secluded town of Cainsville. She has since solved the town’s mysteries and finds herself not only the target of its secretive elders but also her stalker ex-fiancé.
Visions continue to haunt her: particularly a little blond girl in a green sundress who insists she has an important message for Olivia, one that may help her balance the light and darkness within herself. Death stalks both Olivia and the two men most important to her, as she desperately searches to understand whether ancient scripts are dictating the triangle that connects them. Will darkness prevail, or does Olivia have the power to prevent a tragic fate?
Olivia and Gabriel were almost killed by a crazed woman who ran them off the road and then tried to shoot both of them. Having thwarted her plans, the next morning finds them being attacked by armed men in the parking garage of Gabriel’s high rise - deprogrammers hired by Olivia’s ex-fiancé, James who refuses to accept their relationship is over and has become a stalker. This is becoming a typical day in Olivia’s life as she and Gabriel, along with Ricky, keep investigating the murders Olivia’s biological parents are imprisoned for. Olivia’s visions are becoming more intense as she learns more about her own past as well as the past of her family and how two opposing fae forces are trying to win her to their side in a battle for survival.
The action here starts almost from page one and it is non-stop until the last page. It is the morning after the car crash that ended book two and we start out with threats from James and an attempted kidnaping of Olivia. We learn more about the murders for which Olivia’s parents were convicted, more about the victims and more about the reasons the murders were committed. Olivia, Gabriel and Ricky’s connection to the various factions of the fae is explored and Olivia’s visions are bringing more clarity into the mix of their relationships. This is an engrossing series, I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” until I turned the last page having read the book in one sitting. And now I will go get book four because things are coming to a head between Olivia and the various fae factions and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Highly recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
