This brings The Sacred Stones series to a close.
I really enjoyed it immensely. It whipped along at high speed as Kane Ravenswood, King of Onyx, and Arwen Valondale seek the Blade of the Sun to kill Kane’s father Lazarus. Lazarus the last Fae ruler (or so he thinks) wants to turn his back on his kingdom of Lumera and rule all of Evendell by any means necessary.
But, in the meantime, Arwen is a prisoner of Lazarus. He really wants to have a pure Fae child with Arwen which, of course, she has no interest in. Kane, broken hearted at what he thought was Arwens death on the prison isle of Hemlock, is still driven to find the Blade of the Sun so he goes to confront Lazarus in Solaris and bring this struggle with his father to an end.
And I love the chaos that happens. Sure, he meets up with good old dad to fight him for the sword. But the fight does not end well for him and Lazarus strips him of his Fae powers. And then, he sees Arwen after the fight dressed like a lady of the night at an extravagant ball put on by Lazarus. He runs to her in the midst of the crowd who have gathered to see Lazarus consummate his union with Arwen. Kane and Arwen run like heck and make it out of the palace.
They meet up with Aleksander who is leading a local group of rebels to fight Lazarus. He and his army will help Kane and Arwen overcome the Fae king.
Oh yes, they finally acquire the sword in all this…but of course something this tremendous does not reach Kane or Arwen easily. And the war comes to Kane’s kingdom of Onyx and Lazarus crushes Shadowhold castle,
I shall say no more. You need to take on this royal clash yourself and wallow in the intense enjoyment as Ms. Golden brings her series to an end. A terrific entertainment. ~~ Sue Martin
