The stories “The Early Years,” “Cat Tats,” and “Kits” were previously available on the author's Web site. “Blood, Fangs, and Going Furry” has never before been published.

Jane Yellowrock is a skinwalker with the ability to turn into any animal she chooses but her preference is to turn into a mountain lion. She shares her body... her soul... her being with Beast, a wildcat, in a complicated relationship. She starts the series as a rogue-vampire killer and things evolve from there. These four stories fill in some details about both Jane’s past and answers a question about one of the other regular characters.

The Early Years gives us a glimpse of a young Jane as she leaves the children’s home she was raised in and heads to the mountains to see if her dreams about them are dreams or memories.  We get a few details about her life in the home and how she rediscovers some information on her origins.

Cat Tats gives us the story of Rick LaFluer’s intricate cat tattoo, trapped by a vampire and inked by a captive witch.

Kits relates how the Everheart-Truebloods - Molly, her husband Evan and their daughter Angie - first met Jane and the bond they formed when Jane helps them save their daughter.

Blood, Fangs and Going Furry happens immediately following the book Mercy Blade and take us through Rick’s first shift into his werecat form.

Additionally there is a timeline up to the time of publication, unfortunately only through the third book, Mercy Blade, of the fifteen book series, at least in my copy. A list of vampire clan associations and a letter from Ms Hunter explaining the origins of Jane Yellowrock rounds out this collection.

The world of Jane Yellowrock encompasses, so far, three series. The Jane Yellowrock books, Soulwood series and the new Everheart Investigations series.
