Books Do Not Have Wings is Brynne Barnes's second picture book and was named a 2016 ABC Best Books for Young Readers. It's aimed at 5-8 year olds.
Synopsis:
This whimsical, rhyming tale whirls readers through all the fantastic things that can be found between the pages of a book. From a pirate adventure to a fairy fete, this rhyming text is accompanied by gorgeous, thought-provoking illustrations. Books Do Not Have Wings guides the reader along on this journey that answers the question: what is a book?
My eighteen-year-old granddaughter purchased this book when she saw the cover and description recently. She was enchanted by it and knew that her younger sisters were going to enjoy experiencing it too.
They insisted I read it as well, knowing that I appreciated a good story, especially one that captures my grandchildren's hearts and imaginations.
She was absolutely correct in her book choice. It's a fun and whimsical adventure full of rhyming passages that lead the reader through this adventurous tale on finding out the answer of what is a book.
The illustrations are vibrant and lovely to look at, adding depth to the story and imagination of the reader.
I'm happy that my grandchildren shared this book with me. It warms my heart to see them so engaged in reading and sharing their book experiences. My thanks to Brynne Barnes and Rogerio Coelho for making this lovely story book. ~~ Dee Astell
