Poor Bigfoot! He's having some issues since he can never seem to manage to photobomb any public pictures; something always seems to go wrong and he misses his opportunity. He feels he's disappointing his family, who always like to be in the spotlight when a camera is around.
During one of his misadventures he gets caught in a tent and while he's struggling to get free, he's helped by the most unlikely creature imaginable: Nessie. She's on a much needed break, in disguise to help her avoid the public eye.
As their friendship develops, Nessie helps Bigfoot see that the price of fame isn't always what it's cracked up to be and that maybe his passion is not the same as his family's. That's alright, though. He finds his true identity and creativity in life along the way.
I like the fact that this book helps teach the reader that it's important to do the things that you enjoy and not just what everyone else expects you to do.
I'm always a fan of the graphic novel style for kids books and the panels were well-laid-out and easy to follow. My granddaughters agree that the illustrations are fun and whimsical and the two main characters are endearingly cute and very expressive when the moment needs them to be.
I was excited when I was offered this book as well as book #2 to review, I'm a big cryptid fan and Nessie is one of my favorites. I knew my grandaughters were going to enjoy reading this one with me. My daughter joined us as well, helping out with words as my youngest granddaughter read us the book. It was a nice family bonding experience and we enjoyed the time we spent together. We'd recommend getting a copy and doing the same. ~~ Dee Astell with input from Aubrey & Paisely Hernandez
