After her mother’s death Liliana Greene is trying to finish her senior year in high school without authorities finding out she is a minor living on her own. Just as child services is literally at her door trying to take her into custody a friend of her mother’s appears and sweeps her off to a new life. It is something of a Cinderella story as she is the long-lost heir to her estranged billionaire maternal grandparents. While they are uninterested in actually meeting her they do insist she finish her senior year at the exclusive Westlake Academy, a school her mother fled before graduating and being disinherited. Entering the school Lili finds both new friends and enemies as well as mystery. Why did her mother leave before graduating and does it have anything to do with the deaths of past students? 

The mystery here is well-plotted and unfolds at a good pace. The characters are interesting and well-rounded. There is a lot of teen angst but since the target audience here is young adults of 14+ I am sure the insecurities and worries of our three main characters, Lili, Maddox and Theo, are ones the target audience can relate to. The three main characters do come to a sort of ménage à trois relationship though there is no explicit sexual content other than some kissing and a little petting (do they still call it that?)  The ultimate culprit was not one I saw coming. Both adult and teen readers will enjoy this mystery. Recommended ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
