SPOILER ALERT: Spiderman begins very soon after the end of Avengers: Endgame. If you haven't seen it, this movie won't make sense and it's full of spoilers for Endgame so see that one first and don't read this review.
Nick Fury has a problem. He and Marie Hill have seen a monster destroy a village. He needs the Avengers but the only one available is Peter Parker, the Spiderman.
Meanwhile, Peter doesn't want to be available. He's grieving the loss of Iron Man and wants to just be sixteen for a time. He's going on his high school field trip to Europe. He has a romantic scene all planned where he will at last tell M.J. his feelings on top of the Eiffel Tower.
Happy shows up to tell him Nick Fury want to talk to him and he mustn't ignore him. Peter rejects this advice and goes off to Venice with his friends and, of course, everything goes wrong. He can't sit next to M.J. and then a monster starts to destroy Venice. How to ruin a summer vacation!
Peter tries to attack the monster without anyone seeing that he's Spiderman. Luckily, a new superhero arrives to help. Soon everyone is calling the new one, Mysterio. Peter is simply happy to have someone to talk to, someone he can look up to, someone who can replace Iron Man.
And then things get really complicated as they move to Prague and another monster and then there's a major plot twist. Still more complications and they are in London. Meanwhile, Nick Fury has finally caught up with Peter and enlists his aid.
More and more complications and battles as Peter struggles to remain an anonymous hero and work on his romance with M.J.
There's a really big battle and then, when all seems resolved and the movie ends and the credits start rolling, there's a scene with another major twist.
Be sure to sit through all the credits as there's another major twist at the very end.
Good fun throughout.
