The Truth of Valor
Confederation #5
by Tanya Huff
Daw, $7.99, 404 pp
Release Date: September 6, 2011

This is Volume 5 of the Confederation Series

Gunnery Sargent Torin Kerr is the very model of a Confederation Marine (no relation to the modern major general.)  She had survived more deadly encounters and no one could picture her walking away from the Corps, but that was before the events of Valor’s Trial.

It was salvage operator Craig Ryder who found and rescued Torin then, and now that her mission is complete she has quit the marines and began a new life with Craig on his tiny salvage ship, the Promise. Then, on their first trip together, pirates attack the Promise kidnaping and torturing Craig and leaving Torin dying with no propulsion and a shortage of oxygen.

Not knowing who she was, the pirates felt safe. Finding where the pirates are holding Craig, Torin calls in some Marine buddies and a news personality from Sector Central News to help rescue Craig. Then she finds what the pirates were really after - a find that could change the power balance in known Space.

You can't get better action in space. Though not as epic as Honor Harrington these deserve to be together on your shelf for great world building, action and characters you love. I may be chasing the Omnibus, A Confederation of Valor. ~~ Pam Allan
